– Custom Sportster Show Bike

Thank you to one of our local SoCal customers Andrew U. for sending us this email and photos of his ’80’s Harley Sportster.  Classic Components repaired and rechromed the primary cover, engine cases and exhaust pipes on this beauty.  Apparently, another plating shop damaged the parts when they attempted to plate them and we were able to do the job right and just in time for his show.

“Hey Mike, here’s a few pics of the bike. The chrome looks great! Won 2nd place at Sacramento Autorama. Thanks for the help, ill be back soon with my next project.”

Classic Chrome, Inc. Knows Classic Bikes & Custom Chrome Plating

Slapping chrome plating on Suzuki Hayabusas and Harley Davidson Bagger rims and parts are two of Classic Components, Inc.’s favorite pastimes, but we also offer custom chrome plating restoration for classic bikes and especially custom bikes. Lately we have had the opportunity to add custom chrome plating to some great bikes and bike parts. The latest was a `68 Honda CB450. Both the side covers and the headlight rings needed chrome plating restoration and you can see in the pic below that they came our great. We would like to give a special thanks to the client Neal S. from Saginaw Michigan for the picture of the bike with our chrome plating job on it. As you can see Neal has already done a great job with bike and the chrome plating just gives it that extra shine. Hey Neal! Are you sure you don’t want to chrome the fenders?

Another great example of custom chrome restoration comes in the form of some Norton Commando bikes we outfitted with chrome plating a couple years ago. Our customer in Colorado spends more than 250 hours on disassembling each bike and rebuilding them from the ground up to create a stunning re-birth of one of the most exciting and rideable British motorcycles ever built. Check out the chrome plating on these bikes, including the gas tank.

– Shop Improvements

We are excited to be installing some of our new copper and nickel plating tanks.  Some tanks will be replacements to increase capacity and some are new additions to the line.  Check out our brand new Nickel plating bath we started filling today.  This is a wider tank we are adding for the processing of pure or solid aluminum wheels and parts.  It will be reserved for only the best parts and will help keep a contamination free environment for the high end pieces we receive.  These improvements aren’t cheap but we are hoping the investment will pay off sooner rather than later.  Contact Classic Components Inc. for all of your custom plating needs!

– 1956 Gas Tank Restoration

This gas tank is off a 1956 Zundapp motorbike. The tank was dented and torn when we received it. It required multiple copper layers, welding and metal repair as well as hand polishing. I think the eight weeks it took to complete were well worth the wait!
